We made it to the end of August – woohoo! Tomorrow is when “meteorological autumn” begins – the meteorological seasons are not the same as the astronomical seasons. And we’re wrapping up the month – once again – with beautiful clear blue skies and some hot hot hot temps – may even break an August 31st record today.
Autumn officially begins – according to astronomy – on September 22 this year. But in the world of meteorology, “autumn” runs from September 1 through November 30, followed by “winter” from December 1 through February 28, etc.
I like the meteorological definitions more than the official ones, because they more closely align with what most people think of as “seasons.” For instance – most people think of “summer” as June, July, and August, even though “summer” doesn’t officially begin until the third week of June. The Photo Of The Day (above) is a cute deer that we saw when we were driving around Black Eagle yesterday. CUTE!
We drove over to the parking lot in front of Staples on the Northwest Bypass yesterday to check out Little Annie’s Treats – a cute little trailer! I got a “peanut butter sundae,” and it was delicious.
A few seconds after I took that picture, Annie asked if I wanted some chopped nuts on top – and it looked even MORE tasty! My wife got an old-school ice cream cone with chocolate ice cream and peanut butter. Check out the Little Annie’s Treats page on Facebook to find out where they will pop up next!
The Link Of The Day is the “power outage map” page from NorthWestern Energy. You can see what areas currently have a power outage, and often see how many customers are affected and how long it will take for utility crews to restore power. So the next time you lose power, check that page to find out if it’s just you, or a larger area.
The Song Of The Day is a true disco/dance classic – “Do You Wanna Go Party” from KC & The Sunshine Band.
