Shrimp Po Boy at The BLock

Back to The Block!

We stopped at The Block to have lunch a few days ago, and as always, we were not disappointed. In fact, every time we go there, the food tastes better than the previous visit!

I of course opted for the tri-tip steak and cheese sandwich (double meat and double cheese, natch) on sourdough and it was great.

And surprise! The special was a Shrimp Po Boy served with red cabbage – and my wife absolutely loves shrimp and cabbage, so heck yes! She absolutely loved it, and noted the shrimp were HUGE. She also tried a Jeremiah Johnson beer for the first time, and was very impressed.

If you haven’t been to The Block, it’s definitely worth a visit. Easy to find – 5th Street just south of Central Avenue in the spot that used to be the Downtown Doghouse (oh, we miss that place!). Click here to check out The Block website, and here for the Facebook page. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.

Also worth noting that the staff is always super-friendly! The only criticism is that the music (invariably rock of the more modern variety) is sometimes a bit too loud.
