Finally! A second Jimmy John’s has opened in Great Falls. The new one is in the building that for many years was The Feedlot, along 3rd Street NW (near Pizza Hut).
I never had Jimmy John’s until they opened the first location on 10th Avenue South – and I do like it! I really, really appreciate that they actually have SLIMS on the menu – sandwiches with meat, cheese, and bread only – none of that lettucey nonsense!
I’m glad the new location is near where I live – for some reason, the 10th Avenue South location does NOT deliver to my address, which I find strange because (a) it’s really not very far – only 3.7 miles!; and (b) their commercials heavily hype the “freaky fast” delivery.
Well, as my friend Tom pointed out a few days ago, maybe they make that “freaky fast delivery” claim because they only deliver within a three-block radius of their location ๐
Another plus: the new location has a DRIVE-THROUGH! And yes, I have already used it – drove through a few nights ago, got three BIG sandwiches (they clocked in at about 15 inches!). Two for me, one for my wife – and they were great. It’s amazingly simple: tasty bread, good meat and cheese – but Jimmy John’s does it very well.
And before anyone yells at me for not supporting “local” – yes, I do love Montana Sub Shop, too, and of course Grinder’s Soups & Subs. The “local versus chain” arguments are stupid, by the way – it’s entirely possible and reasonable to love BOTH, and for varying reasons.
Next up: going to try the new Jersey Mike’s that is opening in a few days!
RELATED: I did enjoy Schlotzky’s sandwiches – they used to have two locations in Great Falls – one on 9th Street South and one in the Marketplace, IIRC. As for the other big name in sandwiches – Subway – meh, strictly mediocre. One interesting thing about Subway is…um…that was where I took my wife on our first date (at the downtown, now-closed location). TBH, it’s kind of a miracle she gave me a second chance after that ๐ But seriously, that was only one stop during our first date (which was during a Downtown Stroll – I made up for the Subway blunder by also taking her to Amazing Toys, which was, well – amazing and fun!).
