The Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour Diet

Posted on November 26, 2021November 26, 2021 By David In Great Falls

Some of you may remember Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour – going there was a pretty big deal for kids in the 60s and 70s, based on my experience 🙂

Today, while going through some old recipe books, my wife found an advertisement for Farrell’s that had been clipped from a newspaper.

According to Wikipedia: “One of the more amusing highlights of their original menu was a “Low-Calorie Diet” recipe sheet you could theoretically “adopt” to if you ate too much ice cream.”

And here it is:

The “Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour Diet”

At first, I only saw/read the top part, where it says follow this diet so you can eat all the ice cream you want…and then I looked a bit closer at the actual items on the menu 😀

They’re all funny, some more than others – “aroma of empty custard pie plate” and “joint tail of sea horse!”

Sadly, Farrell’s is no more – it peaked in the late 70s, apparently.

Here’s a fun look at Farrell’s:
