A friend messaged me just after 9 a.m. today in reference to a Facebook post by “The Montana Resistance” regarding the Ocean Star Seafood Co. The restaurant opened in January in the Marketplace area on the SW side of town (details).
The FB post said: “We’re hearing reports that ICE was at the Ocean Star restaurant in Great Falls yesterday and took most the employees. The business is closed until further notice. Can any of our friends in Great Falls verify this?”
I got pretty busy at work, but knew that Ocean Star doesn’t open until 4pm, so I put it on the back burner until I got off work at about 6:30 pm.
Cruised over to Ocean Star and saw it open for business – took a peek inside, saw plenty of customers and employees – everything seemed 100% normal.
When I walked out, I pulled up the FB post and saw that Ocean Star had left the following comment at 6:33pm: “Hi guys . It’s Ocean Star Seafood. Thank you for your concern . All employees who are working here are from local or have legal documents to work in united state. We are open regularly 7 days a week! 😀 welcome you guys to try!”
Bottom line: I have seen no evidence of any ICE raid or any other law enforcement activity regarding Ocean Star. It’s possible that it happened, but if it did, it certainly did not affect the restaurant enough to close it “until further notice.”
