We enjoyed lunch a few days ago at Tasty Hot Pot, which opened in Great Falls back in March 2024.
It is at 215 Third Street NW, near Kobe Seafood & Steak and the Staybridge Suites hotel, in the building formerly home to MT Pints and Faster Bassett.
Here is what your section of the table looks like when you sit down.
My wife ate there with a friend a few weeks ago and loved it, and was excited to try it again – she loves all types of Asian food.
Asian cuisine is a bit outside of my normal dining “range,” but this place seemed intriguing: customers select a broth, a few proteins and veggies, some dipping sauce, and then cook them in the hot pot at the table.
I opted for a very plain meal 🙂 Beef and veal in “plain” broth, along with noodles.
My wife obviously wanted something more flavorful, and ordered beef, shrimp, and veggies, along with a spicy broth.
Toss some of the food in the pot, let it boil and cook, and then dish it up and eat!
I was pleasantly surprised – pretty good. I very rarely add seasoning to beef, but did add a bit of salt. Next time I will opt for the Wagyu beef, see if it’s got more flavor than the standard beef.
And for dessert – some mochi, which is ice cream wrapped in a thin covering of rice cake (?) – which was quite tasty.
Drink options were plentiful – we kept it simple with water, a Pepsi, and a cream soda, but plan to try one of the fancy sake beverages next time.
The service was wonderful – a very pleasant young lady named Michelle.
The overall atmosphere was very nice – rather tranquil, even.
There is what I think is an event/banquet room on one side that has a huge screen that was showing sea life – cute.
As for the price – well, it’s not cheap – but overall, I was happy with the experience and the food, and will definitely be back.
