Now that we’ve kinda sorta settled in to some sort of new normalcy in the era of social-distancing, masks, and business restrictions, it’s been great to experience the rise in delivery-based business.
In January 2019, we signed up for Instacart to have groceries delivered, and it’s been awesome. I never really enjoyed grocery shopping, so having groceries delivered literally to our front door is very cool. If you haven’t tried it yet – it’s remarkably easy. Just get the app, choose the store (Albertsons, Smith’s, etc), select the items you want, and schedule the delivery.
And lately, restaurants have REALLY gotten in to the delivery swing of things, and so far, my favorite service is DoorDash. There’s also Cafe Courier and Great Falls Express, but DoorDash has been the most reliable and courteous service of the three I have tried.
Couple of notes: the best “packaging” of delivery orders so far is the Montana Club. They don’t use the generic styrofoam cartons – they use more solid packaging, everything is sealed up tight, and it looks and feels like a quality product. And I was initially a bit skeptical of having a steak delivered – but it worked out just fine.
Second – if you use a delivery service (whether grocery or restaurant), please be GENEROUS with tips! I really, really appreciate the delivery folks (“Dashers” is what DoorDash calls theirs!), and hefty tips go a long way toward ensuring that these services continue, I suspect.
One nifty feature of recent deliveries is that the awesome delivery people snap and send a photo of the food when they set it on your front porch! Here’s a few recent examples:
