The Children's Museum of Montana

CMOM Volunteers Needed

Posted on March 7, 2022March 7, 2022 By David In Great Falls

The Children’s Museum of Montana is a magical place. I visited a few years ago, and was really amazed at how big and fun it is!

If you’ve never been, it’s worth a visit, no matter how old you are, just so you can see what a cool place it is and how fun it can be for kids.

Unfortunately…they’ve had some trouble with rude/neglectful parents and guardians lately and posted a request for help via the CMOM Volunteers page on Facebook:

We need someone willing to work a few hours on Saturday that could help our crew maintain civility through our busiest day. Unfortunately it is becoming very common on Saturdays for our adult visitors to ignore their children and this lack of supervision is causing irreparable damage to the museum. Wall displays pulled off the wall and broken beyond repair, our globe ripped apart, our cash drawer used for tug a war and broken in half, no parents upstairs while girls are hanging from the rafters; it is getting out of hand and we are adding staff that are comfortable asking people to leave, reminding parents they have to supervise their children at all times, and letting neglectful ones know they will be billed.

It’s located at 22 Railroad Square (behind the Civic Center), and it’s two stories of “exhibits” that are truly hands-on and interactive for kids of all ages. Among the exhibits are an airplane cockpit, a grocery store, an Old West-type fort, a large boat, Dr. Seuss-themed area, a Lego area, a dress-up section, a hospital/doctor’s office and dentist’s office, and many more. Click here to check out the website.

Here’s a short video I made in 2019 when I visited:
