We finally stopped by the new Station District Bar & Eatery – and loved it. Twice.

It’s next to the Milwaukee Station Tower on River Drive, and features four separate kitchens:
- Yama – Asian Kitchen, Asian-fusion featuring Thai cuisine
- Barrio Cantina, Mexican cuisine
- Cascata, Italian entrees
- Big Sky Grill, American (burgers!)
- Nook Café with a variety of coffee and espresso beverages.
When we walked in, a manager introduced himself and asked if this was our first time – yep – so he explained how it works: You can order and pay at any of the small screens at any of the four kitchen counters. Once you place an order, you get a confirmation text and can sit down anywhere.

Once you sit down, a bartender will visit to ask if you want anything to drink – including non-alcoholic options (I ordered a Pepsi). Service was very friendly and prompt.
When our food was ready, we got a text message and walked up to get our food. Easy!
And the food was good. Very good. My Wagyu burger and (fresh cut!) fries were on par with my favorite burger (Backroads Bar & Grill near Sun Prairie).

And my wife very much enjoyed her shrimp tacos!

And the scenery is great! Overlooking the river – probably the best restaurant view in town.

And they have some pretty good heaters on the patio, if the air is a bit chilly.

And to top it off – there’s an adjacent room that has foosball, a basketball hoop, and video games.
Overall: delicious, friendly, fun.
In fact, we liked it so much, we went back a few days later 🙂 and enjoyed the food and the vibes again!

ALSO: there’s a coffee shop attached called The Nook!
